How do I enroll?
Enrolling in the TRICARE For Life (TFL) program is simple. There are no forms for you to submit or paperwork to complete. As long as you are already TRICARE eligible according to the Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System (DEERS) and have purchased Medicare Part B, you are automatically enrolled and become eligible for TFL. To determine if you are currently eligible, click here.
There is no enrollment fee for the TFL program. However, beneficiaries must purchase Medicare Part B to be eligible for the TFL medical benefit. There is a monthly charge to purchase Medicare Part B, which is deducted from a beneficiary's monthly Social Security payment.
For more information regarding your Medicare eligibility, fees, etc. please visit your local Social Security Office or visit them at www.medicare.gov.
Will I need a card?
We do not issue a card when you become TFL eligible. The only card that you may need to present to providers at the time services is your valid military identification card. If you do not have a military ID card, or your ID card has expired, please contact DEERS to have the card renewed.
For more information on the TFL program, please visit the Defense Health Agency website.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding your DEERS enrollment and eligibility information you have several options for contacting them...
Visit a local identification card-issuing facility. Find a facility near you at www.dmdc.osd.mil/rsl. Call to verify location and business hours or contact DEERS directly.
